File Form 2290 Online at YourTruckTax.com
Independent truckers who operate one truck and fleet managers operating two or more trucks are required to pay the Heavy Vehicle Use Tax (HVUT) if their vehicles have a gross weight of 55,000 lbs. and more and use public highways. You must file IRS Form 2290 at the time and according to the rules established by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
The Heavy Vehicle Use Tax (HVUT) Form 2290 must be filed by the last day of the month following the month of first use. IRS Form 2290 must be filed for each month a taxable vehicle is first used on public highways during the current period. (You can file Form 2290 electronically at YourTruckTax.com.) The current period begins July 1 and ends June 30 of the following year. Note that the filing rules apply whether you are paying the tax or reporting suspension of the tax.
If the tax due date falls on a legal holiday or a Saturday or Sunday, you must file Form 2290 by the next business day.
