While all Heavy Vehicle Use Tax (HVUT) taxpayers are encouraged to file IRS Form 2290 electronically, electronic filing is required for each return that reports 25 or more vehicles.
The Heavy Vehicle Use Tax (HVUT) is an excise tax assessed by the federal government on vehicles with a gross weight of 55,000 lbs. and more that use public highways. The revenue collected is distributed to the states in order to fund highway construction and maintenance projects.
At YourTruckTax.com, we offer IRS Form 2290 E-File services for individuals, corporations and paid tax preparers so that they may:
Figure the Heavy Vehicle Use Tax (HVUT) and Efile IRS Form 2290 for:
- Highway motor vehicles used during the period with a taxable gross weight of 55,000 pounds or more
- Vehicles for which the suspension statement on another Form 2290 was completed if that vehicle later exceeded the mileage use limit during the period
- A vehicle for which the taxable gross weight increased and the vehicle falls into a new category during the period
- A used vehicle acquired and used during the period
